The deck just got bigger, stranger and, for the first time, unfair in a good way. Version 1.3.0 adds 24 new cards and two news events, plus a rarity system that decides how often you see them.

The cards worth talking about

Some of the new arrivals teach real finance. Others teach you what happens when a bubble bursts.

There is also a Short Squeeze, a Flash Crash, a New Client Win and a Christmas Bonus, a Designer Bag your partner has fallen for, a Viral Side Project, and two news events that move rents and business incomes across the board. We will let you discover the rest at the table.

Rarity: not every draw is equal

Cards now come with a rarity. Some turn up far less often than others, and the rarer ones get their own badge and frame, so you know when something special has arrived. How rare is rare? A dealer never shows you the deck. Update to the latest version to see it for yourself.

Back to card, and no escape from layoffs

Sometimes you need to look at the board before you decide. Cards can now be hidden so you can study the board, then brought back with Back to card. And some cards have no way to say no. A layoff or an emergency no longer has a cross to dismiss it, because in real life you cannot dismiss those either.

Cards that arrive by post

The new cards travel from our servers instead of inside the app, which is why most future cards will not need an update at all. There is a safety net, so nobody is ever dealt a card their app cannot play. The full story of shipping updates is in Going Public.

Every card, translated again

We also went back through the older card texts and rewrote the Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Chinese translations, so the deck reads properly in all of them.

Next in the series is 1.3.1, which followed later the same day.

The release notes, word for word

24 new cards, from a roadside motel and a SaaS company to the Big Short, plus rarity: uncommon and rare cards now turn up. Hide a card to look at the board, then tap Back to card. Layoffs and emergencies can't be dismissed any more. Short on cash? Choose how to cover it and see how close you are to bankruptcy. Card texts retranslated in every language.
